Pair of flintlock dueling pistols by Forest of Oxford, England, circa approx. 1800-1820. Cased with accessories. The pair measure approx. 14-1/4” overall with 8-1/2” octagon barrels. Half stocked, iron mounted, settriggers. Approx. .62 caliber smoothbore. The pair are in good condition with a grey-brown patina finish. Some scattered slight to moderate surface pitting with some slightly heavier pitting at the breech end and firingareas. The pistols show wide silver or platinum bands at the breeches with platinum plugs. The stocks are good with fairly crisp checkering, some oil staining, minor dings, dents, etc. The pair are in their originalflintlock configuration with a couple of small parts replaced. Period brass tipped ramrods are included. The pair are equipped with set triggers and show good quality throughout. The locks are of the later period with rain proof pans and rollers on the frizzens and they show fancy French style swept cocks (or hammers). The pair are contained within an original wooly velvet lined case which is in good condition showing
