Pair of flintlock dueling/Kentucky style pistols signed “H. Turner, Albany”, with silver buttcaps and owners escutcheon. The pair measure 15-1/4” overall with 10” octagon barrels of approx. 50 caliber smoothbore. Shows brass triggerguard and ramrod ferrules, keyed barrels, no sideplate, with silver buttcaps that are period inscribed, “T. U. H. H.” and plaque at wrist inscribed in the same hand “T. H.” intertwined. The pair show a dark brown patina finish with considerable brown on th barrels. Some scattered light to moderate erosion and pitting. The locks show traces of case hardening within their brown. The pair are in their original flintlock configuration. The stocks are good, one pistol shows a slight hairline crack around the wrist, some minor scratches, mars, normal carry and use. Both pistols are in their original flintlock configuration and maintain correct small parts. The buttcaps and metal completely uncleaned and as found with a nice out-of-the-attic appearance. The pistols are a pair but they have slight differences in the shape of the hammer, etc, which is common in hand-made American pairs.
