Pair of elaborate silver mounted Flintlock pistols signed “Fatou a Paris” made for eastern trade. The pair measure 21-5/8” overall with 15” barrels of approx 60 cal smooth bore. The silver mountings are goodquality and show well defined figural of cannons, stands of arms, and floral motif. The barrels show a Damascus pattern with gold decoration and a small maker’s mark with Arabic writing. The pistols are nicelystocked in good quality walnut with carving at the wrist and molding around the mounts. The condition is good to very good with some light erosion and pinprick pitting on the metal but sharp edges and engraving on thelock. The stocks show some minor restoration and light refinish and are at least very good. Fatou was one of the top royal gun makers who worked into the Napoleonic era and was known for his elaborate decoration onhigh grade arms. Est.;$3,000-$6,000.
