Pair of early flintlock horseman size pistols, probably Dutch, circa 1690 to 1720. Full stocked in figured walnut, 12-1/2” barrels made in three graduated stages, lightly engraved locks and steel mounts. Thepistols are in their original flintlock configuration and show fancy plaques at wrist which are pierced and have raised busts in silver of what appear to be a Roman emperor, but are rubbed down and detail is lost. Thesideplates are fancily pierced. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and the edges are soft and slightly rounded. The stocks are good with some small dings, mars, scratches, slight losses and no major imperfections. The pistols are equipped with original style horn-tipped ramrods. The pistols show good form and are nicely styled. They are approx. .60 caliber smoothbore. The stocks are at least very good. Though not absolutely crisp, the pair have good stocks and are at least very good for their age. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
