Pair of classic French silver mounted pistols converted from flintlock to percussion with ornate Eagle head butts signed on the locks but not quite legible (possible La Motte Aine?). The pair measure 14 ½” overall with an 8” octagon barrelsof approximately .52 caliber smoothbore. The metal surfaces show an even gray to brown patina finish with some traces of original case hardening on the locks and breeches. There is some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The stocks have been professionally and lightly refreshed and are at least very good. The butt shows a very detailed and nicely made silver eagle in the French late 18th century style. Horn tipped ramrods of the period are included. Thepistols are equipped with set triggers and the trigger guard and mounts exclusive of the butts are blued iron and there are silver plaques on the wrists that have been polished long ago and probably showed a crest or name at one time.
