(20th Century Fox, 1977) A screening program and a souvenir program from the original release of Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope. The rare 2-page navy blue cardstock screening program was created for special pre-release theatrical exhibitions of the sci-fi blockbuster. The souvenir program contains 18-pages of cast, crew, and character bios, behind the scenes information, and exciting production images. The souvenir program, arguably the first piece of Star Wars merchandise, was so popular during the film’s theatrical run that the publisher, George Fenmore Associates, sold through four print runs. This example, with its glossy cover and tan interior highlights, is from the rare first printing. The screening program measures 11”x8.5” and the souvenir program is 9”x11.5”. Both are in good condition. The screening program exhibits some surface loss and spidering at edges, tape residue with minor surface loss at all for corners of the reverse, and general handling wear. The souvenir program exhibits a vertical surface impression at the center of the front cover, wear to edges and the spine, general handling, and some stray scuffs in the black backgrounds throughout.
