Pair of Spanish flintlock era Miquelet pistols converted to percussion, originally circa about 1800-1830, and converted 1830-1860. The pistols are full stocked to the muzzle with checkered grips, plain brassmounts; they measure 15-1/4" overall with 10-1/4" barrels of approximately .62 cal. smooth bore. The hammers show chiseling at the top with typical style lion effigy. The marks on the barrel simulate Spanish markings that are indistinct and these pistols have a distinctly Colonial look, possibly made in Mexico or South America. The condition is good to very good with original to-the-period ramrod, slight wear, normal aging and noabuse. The type of pistol that would have been used by the military to guard the roads and missions of Texas to California during the end of the Colonial era which terminated in 1847 at the close of the Mexican-AmericanWar.
