A) Manufacturer: English Model: Flintlock
The left side of the box lock frame has an engraved flag/arms motif and the trigger guard has an engraved accent. There are two British proofs stamped ahead of the trigger guard. The number "1" is marked on the underside of the barrel and frame. There are no maker markings. The right side of the frame has a belt hook and the action has a sliding hammer safety which is engraved. Smooth bore barrel with a cannon type muzzle. The grip has a silver wire inlaid pattern on the sides and an ornate thumb oval. The butt of the slab style grip has a well executed and detailed chiseled silver accent. Very good. The pistol has a mottled gray patina showing some light pitting. The grip is very good with some minor handling marks. Most of the wire remains intact. Mechanically excellent.

As described in "A", but with the number "2" on the underside of the barrel and frame. Belt lock on opposite side of frame. (this enabled pistols to be drawn from belt without flipping the pistol). Provenance: The William Ashby Collection
