Peachbloom Glaze (jiang dou hong)

The peachbloom glaze was developed in China during the Kangxi period. It is a copper-based glaze with various nuances of a pinkish red sometimes mottled with green spots. The glaze was mainly used for objects for the scholar’s table such as small jars and brush washers. The western name of the ‘peachbloom’ glaze was inspired by the color and ripeness of the peaches. There are many shades of peachbloom, the ones with larger, undisturbed areas being the most sought-after objects among collectors.

Condition: The brush washers are in good condition with light signs of age such as minimal chips to the rims. The diameter is 10.5 cm.
