A) Active from 1850 to 1872, James E. Evans was a dealer in copies of Deringer's pocket pistol. Though the source of the arms in unconfirmed, these pistols do show features found on arms from Slotter & Company. Brass blade front and notch rear sights, with scroll engraving on the tang and breech and "J.E. EVANS PHILADA" on the top flat. Similar engraving is present on the lock, hammer, accent and reverse plates, and trigger guard. Checkered stock, with an engraved triangular inlay on the Schnabel-tip forearm, and a checkered grip. With a modern coverage metal frame storage case with room for both pistols.

Condition: Very good, with 30% of the original brown finish on the barrel, showing some areas of gray patina and mild spotting, and a darker color on the breech and lock plate. The top rear tang is cracked at the retention screw with a few cracks and chips are present on the balance of the stock. Mechanically very good.

Condition: Fine, with 50% of the original brown finish on the barrel, with areas of gray patina and spotting, and some pitting is visible in the low areas and on the hammer. Stock is very good, with some light chips and dents. Mechanically fine.
