A) Manufacturer: German Model: Flintlock
Originally established in the 1650's the Kuchenreuter Family was a supplier of top quality arms to nobility and the wealthy, claiming Emperor Napoleon I, Frederick the Great, and other luminaries of the era as their clients. The firm remains active to the present, though has moved away from the arms trade. Dovetailed brass blade front sight and a fixed notch rear sight, with delicate golden scroll inlays on the upper flats surrounding "I. KUCHENREUTER. A. REGENSBURG", a pair of gold bands at the breech, and a rectangular proof stamp of a man on a horse on the chamber. Lockplate is unmarked, with a thin border line and a countoured hammer and frizzen. Smooth hardwood stock, with a contrasting hardwood tipped ramrod, horn forearm cap, brass furniture, a flowing contour along the left side near the breech, and a raised carved floral design on top of the wrist, immediately behind the upper tang.
