Pair of "Homefront" World War I Posters. Included are: Sure, We'll Finish the Job; 26" x 38" Artist: Gerrit A. Beneker. Issued for the fifth and final Liberty Loan, known as the Victory Liberty Loan, this image incites the populus to give one last time to finish the job overseas. The man is drawn digging deep into his pockets to complete the war effort. A common poster in extant numbers, it is a very important piece as the man is depicted with several buttons and workman's garb. It shows that the common working man helped in great quantities to support the war and ensure victory for the United States and its allies.
For Home and Country; 20" x 30", Artist: Alfred Everett Orr. Most books and collectors sites describe this poster as "common." Although it may be "common" in the sense that there are more around or more were produced, it is by no means a "common" work of art. The poster is a microcosm of what the Liberty Loans stood for. This poster was issued for the fifth and final loan and represents the family for which all the soldiers were fighting. The home front is represented by the mother and child and the war front is depicted by the presence of the helmet and uniformed soldier. This is a masterful juxtaposition of peace and war.

Condition: Sure We'll Finish the Job - Extra Fine -one small stain on lower right corner; linen backed.

For Home and Country: Fine - repairs of several tears visible on lower edge; upper left corner also repaired and stained; linen backed.
