Pair of Germanic percussion dueling/target pistols, cased with accessories, signed in gold on top of barrel, “J. A. Kuchenreuter in Regensburg”. The pistols measure 16” overall with 9” barrels of approx. .50 rifled. Thepair are half stocked and are nicely fluted in half stocks that are of good quality fruitwood. The mounts are nicely engraved and show hallmarks on the back of the triggerguards and may be coin silver or asilver alloy, however we cannot read the proof marks. The mounts and locks are nicely engraved. The barrels are show a flare (or are swamped) with a Damascus pattern. The pistols are equipped with set triggers andtarget-type sights. The metal surfaces are in good condition with some minor erosion and pinprick pitting, normal aging. The stocks are good plus with some dings, mars, scratches, etc. The pistols are containedwithin an original to the period mahogany box with brass accessories. The case may have been relined long ago but is in good condition and shows proper construction and some age. A correct mold, mallet, flask and
