Pair of Georgian style flintlock canon-barrel pistols converted to percussion marked A. Waters, cased with accessories. The pair measure 13” overall with 7-1/2” turned canon style barrels of approx. .58 caliber smooth bore. The pair closely resemble English pistols with silver mask butts and silver wired inlayed stocks, however the engraving on triggerguards show American type daisy and frame engraving more naïve or American. The breeches are marked “PRO” and “VED” in two stamps. The silver butts are not hallmarked. The pistols are converted to percussion with simple American type hammers and are in good condition with a brownish patina, some pitting and erosion, some small losses of wood at the edges, and slight losses of silver wire. The pair are contained within their original to the period velveteen-lined partition case with flask, rods, cap tins, compartment cover, key, no mold. The lid of the case shows a Collins London maker’s label. The exterior of the case is simple oak, brass mounts, and is American made.
