Pair of French Empire period officer’s style half-stock pistols signed “Le Page a Paris, Arqer. De L’Empereur” dated 1808 beneath the barrels. Converted from flintlock to percussion, in percussion era French-style fitted case. With “Faure Le Page #8. Rue de Richelieu a Paris in lid. It is our opinion that the Le Page firm converted these fine pistols as the quality of the work is excellent. The pair measure approx. 14-3/4” overall with 7-7/8” octagon barrels, finely swamped at the muzzles, in approx. .52 caliber. The pair show fancy gold signatures which extend more than halfway down the barrels with a gold maker’s cartouche at center portion of lock. The barrels and locks show most of their striped brown finish going to a brown patina with some light pitting and erosion in the firing areas. The mounts are finely engraved in the empire style and are of steel. The pair show set triggers. The stocks are of select walnut, beautifully checkered, with ebony or hardwood grip caps that are floral carved around the butt. The pair are contained within their original to the period of conversion brown velveteen line French fitted case with gold embossed label in lid. The case is in
