Silver, plain edge, 51mm, R.6, XF, listed as GM-91 in Greenslet's reference volume <I>The Medals of Franklin.</B></I> Mint Designer-Engraver Christian Gobrecht (1785-1844) was responsible for many seminal medal and coinage designs, including most notably the Gobrecht dollars and the long-running Seated Liberty coinage. Obverse: Franklin Institute Of The State Of Pennsylvania (around bust of Franklin facing left); 1824 (below the bust); Gobrecht F. (on truncation of bust). Reverse: Reward Of Skill and Ingenuity (a wreath of oak and olive branches around); inscribed: To H. Froemner for Analytical Balances 1885. 2.
