Pair of Engraved and Gold Inlaid European Percussion Pistols A) Percussion Pistol
Pair of matching engraved and gold inlaid Damascus barreled percussion pistols. 13 1/4 inch overall length. The pistols have no maker markings, but have a Liege ELG proof on the barrel. Fixed sights, adjustable trigger, chiseled side plate and iron ramrod. The barrel has two gold bands at the muzzle and one gold band at the breech with a gold and silver inlaid floral pattern at the breech. The breech plug features a gold band and is adorned with gold inlaid floral designs. The lock plate, hammer and spur trigger guard feature a zigzag line engraved border with an engraved and gold and silver inlaid floral pattern. Opposite the lock plate is a relief chiseled clamshell pattern plate surrounding the lock plate screw. (both pistols match!). The upper tang is also engraved and inlaid with a inlaid floral blossom on the grip cap. The stock has a carved forend tip, has a flared butt, and a carved zigzag pattern on the grip area. Complete with a modern, contemporary wooden case lined in green felt.

Condition: Fine. The barrel has a smooth brown patina with 95% of the Damascus pattern remaining. The remaining surfaces have a smooth gray patina (showing evidence of being cleaned at one time) with a protective coating present on the grip cap and trigger guard. The stock is fine with some minor dings and scratches with the carvings remaining crisp. The case is fine with limited insect damage to the felt. Mechanically fine.
