A) This matching pair of engraved French muff pistols were manufactured circa 1830 to 1848. The sides of the frame feature a floral engraving, with a niter blue hammer. The serial number and a crown/AF proof are marked near the folding trigger, with a simple border engraving on the underside of the frame and around the trigger housing. The screw on barrel is unmarked and without a sight. The one piece bird head shaped grip has fine checkering and a floral carving near the frame.

A) Fine. The hammer retains traces of the original niter blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a smooth dark patina. The remaining surfaces have a smooth gray patina. The grip is ill-fitting at the frame, otherwise fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches. The checkering is crisp. The engraving is clear and crisp.

B) Fine. The hammer retains approximately 20% original niter blue finish with the balance a smooth dark patina. The remaining surfaces have a smooth gray patina with a few minor dings on the barrel. The grip is fine with some minor pressure dents and some scattered minor scratches and dings, with a minor gash on the left side. Overall the checkering is crisp. The engraving is clear and crisp.
