Pair of Colt Python .357 magnum revolvers, 6” barrels, finely engraved and gold inlaid, ornate double checkered and scrimshawed paneled ivory grips with engraved grip cap. One pistol engraved Washington Centennial 1889 – 1989 serial #V98286 and V98287. Pistol number 98297 shows fancy scroll engraving, gold line borders. The left side shows a lighthouse at shore in gold, the right side shows a Goldfinch, the Washington state bird, and an unidentified structure on the right. The left grip shows a scrimshawed panel of bearded man in Victorian dress who is unidentified, possibly a founding father of Washington State, and a breaching Killer Whale on right. The scrimshaw is signed “R.R.”. The pistol shows 99% blue, restored at time of engraving. The pistol is fitted with a gold-plated grip cap that is engraved with a portrait of George Washington. The mate, #V98286 is engraved to match with similar scrolls and inlays, differing motifs showing mount Rainier surrounded by trees and landscape on left, the right side shows hydroelectric dam and salmon on front right of frame.
