This pair of French demi-lune gates are spectacular. The decorations of raised relief florets are hand wrought and double sided on both gates. They are in good antique condition with only a few individual petals missing.

Ironwork of this caliber was usually done by artists who were sculptors, and who were specifically commissioned to design the pieces for individuals.

This pair has scrolling acanthus leaves with florets and buds of varying sizes. The central posts have bronze rollers at the bottom for ease in opening and closing. There is also a decorated stamped metal face place on each gate where the lock is (key missing). Parcel gold paint highlights the leaves and flower petals.

These gates would be appropriate as fireplace screens, room dividers, or outside gates. They are very versatile for the discerning collector of ornamental ironwork. Late 1800's
