Pair of American dueling/target pistols signed W. J. and R.H. Scott, Albany. The pair measure approx. 15-3/8” overall with 10-3/8” octagon barrels of approx. .40 caliber rifled. The pair are half-stocked in nicely grained walnut showing plain German silver mounts and lightly engraved locks. Both the barrels and locks are signed. The pair remain in good to very good condition with a deep brown patina finish on the barrels, some scattered erosion and pitting. Some slightly heavier pitting on the breech and firing areas, some scattered pitting on the barrels. The locks show case hardening drifting to grey, the stocks are very good plus with just some minor scratches and marks on the varnish. There are small coin type brass inlays into the butt which are numbered “909” and “910”. The pistols show a v-notch type rear sight and a bead front sight. The pair are nicely made and show good quality. This pair are pictured in Guns of the American West by [[?? Gaviwhats-his-name]] . Unusual saw-handled styling with a very unique grip.
