Pair of 1920's Clarice Cliff 'Fantasque' 'Lily' pattern candlesticks, shape number 310, gilt backstamp 'HAND PAINTED FANTASQUE BY CLARICE CLIFF NEWPORT POTTERY ENGLAND', one with additional gilt backstamp 'LAWLEYS' NORFOLK POTTERY STOKE', 3.2ins. high (see illustration). According to 'CLARICE CLIFF THE ART OF BIZARRE' by Leonard Griffin, this gilt Fantasque backstamp crediting Newport Pottery was only used briefly in 1928. Est.£100/150
