Pair of 1871 Remington .50caliber centerfire rolling block pistol fully and finely NY engraved in Nimschke style, silver and gold washed, serial #3293 with monogrammed original ivory grips show “CHA” on left and initial “M” on right. The pistol is very deluxe with fine quality full coverage engraved more than half-0way down the top of the barrel, ornately engraved on frame with large center floral panel on right fine scrolls on left. The pistol shows 90% plus uncleaned original silver on barrel that has a nice patina. The frame, trigger guard dhow 50% thinning gold over silver wash also drifting to patina and uncleaned. The original ivory stocks are near fine with some checking, yellowing, normal aging, at least very good plus to near fine overall. The screwheads are all nicely engraved and correct. The action good, the interior near excellent with bright bore. Many of these Remingtons were presented to heads of foreign countries and also American western personalities such as Buffalo Bill and Capt. Jack Crawford, who had similar ivory-stocked examples. Only about 20 engraved and ivory stocked Remingtons are estimated to have been produced. Est: $15,000 - $30,000
