Pair of Japanese patinated bronze vases with mixed metal accents, Meiji period, 19th century, each of cylindrical shape and finely decorated with various types of birds and butterflies in a landscape with a meandering stream bordered by lush flowering plants and trees, executed in gold, silver, shakudo and copper overlay with incised details, further gold and silver overlay defining scattered floral roundels on the flaring support, the wide rim with a gold damascened floral reserves on a foliate and geometric-patterned ground, with copper liner (liner possibly later, silver oxidized), 5.75''h
