A Pair of Bas Relief Marble Plaques, after the work of T.P. Darbiene displayed at the the 1889 Paris Exposition. The design, delightful Putti merrily making music with a Goddess is captivating.
Each is marked "T. P. Darbiene Paris 1889" Paris Exposition on the front. The back of each plaque bears a bronze circle inscribed Louis Boll 1889 Exposition Universelle?. The bronze is beautifully and skillfully executed.

The Exposition Universelle of 1889 was a World's Fair that was held in Paris. The Eiffel Tower had been completed and was both the main symbol of the Fair and the entrance to the Fair.
Age: Late 1800's to early 1900's

Condition: Good to Very Good. A few minor nicks and chips to frames. The oval reliefs are not perfectly centered in the frames.
