Pair BPO Elks Badges from Wheeling and Wichita
Pair of BPO Elks Badges from Wheeling and Wichita. Another pair of fine badges from the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. The first badge is from Wheeling Lodge No. 28. The impressive silvered brass fob hangs from a purple and white ribbon which have some minor fraying on the ends. The name plate on the fob is also slightly yellowed. The fob itself contains a small celluloid of an elk with the motto of the elks below it, "Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love, and Fidelity." The second badge is from Wichita, Kansas and is in full gilt. The uppermost level depicts an elk with the clock bearing the hour of eleven; a time for toasting and cheer for the elks. Below that is the Number of the Wichita Lodge; 427, below that is the name of the town; Wichita. The final section is a large gilt sunflower depicting a Native American Chief in full ceremonial wear with the word Kansas below him. This badge has very little wear of the original gilt. Very handsome pair.
