Auction Details

Mû-Terem Gallery - established in May, 1997 by two owners: art historian Dr. Judit Virág and István Törõ - is today undoubtedly one of Hungary's leading auction houses.

In October, 1998 we held our first auction, which can be seen as a milestone in Hungarian auction history. The auction was, even by the standards of this exceedingly critical business, the most successful auction in the history of the domestic art trade.

The Gallery has had an enormous effect on the Hungarian auction market. The marketing, PR and art history innovations it introduced have been adopted by every other auction house, and have become an everyday part of Hungarian auctions. Mû-Terem Gallery produced the first auction catalogue in which, in addition to factual data and analysis of a featured painting, buyers were reassured with the history of ownership of the paintings.

Guarantee

Thanks to the Gallery's expert management, and to the outstanding art historians working therein, the Gallery avoids doubts about the originality of its art. Mû-Terem Gallery is extremely proud that in the four years of its existence not a single painting has been brought back to the Gallery with doubts about its authenticity.

Zsolnay porcelain

Through its systematic work the Gallery has become one of the global centers in the Zsolnay trade. The company takes part in Internet trade, and in sales at the world's great auction houses. The Gallery organizes three auctions a year and, through a strict limitation on numbers of items offered, ensures the highest quality material and fast-paced auctions.
