Paez Celis, Julio & Antonio Brito. CATALOGO DE MONEDAS VENEZOLANAS. Antonio Brito, Caracas. 1971. 12mo. 50, (2) pages. Original printed card covers. Tables. Bibliography. b&w coin photos throughout. Errata sheet laid in. Spanish text. Ex Libris of John S. Davenport. Fine. This book is a catalog and guide to coins minted during the Venezuelan numismatic period, from 1802 onwards, an estimated 331 coins. This includes the coins minted in Colombia at the time of Gran Colombia (1819-1830), but does not include coins minted in Venezuela, some obsidional in nature (Maracaibo, Margarita, Barinas) and others probably minted in Caracas that have not yet been minted. identified; for obvious reasons it also does not include all variants or trials. Excluding those indicated, the collection of Venezuelan coins is not greatly affected by a large volume of them, however, this could lead one to think that there is a certain ease to complete a collection of the 331 coins, it is not so because of the rarity with which certain coins are presented. Topics covered: Degree of conservation, Colonial and independence period 1802 - 1821, Period of Gran Colombia 1819 - 1830, Republic of Venezuela 1830 - 1863, United States of Venezuela 1863 - 1953, Republic of Venezuela 1953 to present, Degree of rarity of Venezuelan coins, Order of rarity in each denomination and the 25 rarest coins of Venezuelan numismatics. Lot weight: 0 lbs 4oz. Subject(s): Venezuelan Coinage.
