The most famous regions for beautiful sapphires are Kashmir, Burma and Sri Lanka. The Kashmir mines are high up in the Himalayas, and new has been found for the last 50+ years. Burmese sapphires are as famous, but limited resources in that troubled country have led miners to focus on the more plentiful rubies. That led us to Sri Lanka, the steady producer of fine sapphires. Most of our premium handcrafted sapphires have their origin on this island and receive a custom cut by an expert lapidarist.
