This is a real doughboy helmet.
Original helmet used in the production of the George Marshall and Raymond McCarey directed pre-Code Laurel and Hardy film 'Pack Up Your Troubles' (1932), where two war veterans help an orphaned child find her grandfather.
Later on used in other movies/TV shows.
