Lot of 34. Most are documents from the Postal Telegraph-Commercial Cable Company, which was founded by Comstock mining millionaire John Mackay. Mackay wanted to create a domestic wire network to connect with the trans-atlantic cable. Headquarters were in San Francisco. A few of the documents in this group date to 1902 and thus still list John W. Mackay as president (he died that year). Other documents list his son, Clarence Mackay. The group is a mix of telegrams and messages on company letterhead, mostly related to the location of poles, deeding of property, etc. in locations on the West Coast. There are also a few illustrated holiday documents and one Western Union Armed Forces telegraph form and message with envelope.
