PUCCINI, GIACOMO
(1858 - 1924) Italian operatic composer whose works include La Boheme, Tosca and Madame Butterfly. Fine content A.L.S. ""Tuo Muckilissimo"" 2pp. 8vo., Milan, Friday, [Aug. 21, 1921], in Italian to Soprano Rose Ader, with whom Puccini was deeply in love. He had the young singer in Rome earlier that year when she sang the role of Mimi in his La Boheme. In part: ""...It's 10am. You are where? Not yet in Berlin? What a long voyage! I hope you are well. I spoke with Simoni about Turandot. We're in agreement. Radaelli will not be able to go to Palermo because 'Ricorde' is sending his son as stage manager. Very disappointing...I may leave Sunday. I must yet speak today or tomorrow with the poets. I think about you all the time...I long for you...To stay in this hotel without you is impossible! You are my one joy! My treasure...I send you a thousand 'kisse ...'"". Puccini began work on Turandot, the last of his twelve operas, on Jan. 1, 1921, but it remained unfinished at his death in 1924. Very good condition.
