The front reserved in a heart-shaped panel painted with a floral bouquet within a gilt crow’s foot border issuing trailing floral garlands, gilt dentil borders on base and rim, the white strap handle with gilt foliate terminal 41?2 in. (11.4 cm) $3,000-5,000 provenance Grace Whitney Hoff (1862-1933), Ch‚teau de Peyrieu, RhÙne, France The contemporary description of such an object is controversial, as it has been referred to as either a gobelet litron or a pot ‡ boire; see Tamara PrÈaud and Antoine d’Albis, La Porcelaine de Vincennes.
