PRESCOTT, OLIVER
(1731 - 1804) American Revolution Major General of Massachusetts militia who later put down Shay's Rebellion. A pair of documents including his endorsement on the verso of a manuscript D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., Roxbury, Apr, 9, 1778 ordering payment of 100 pounds to him ""as part of a Warrant in favour of the Honle. James Warren, Aaron wood & Samuel Freeman Esqrs. past in June 1777..."". Very good condition. Together with his signature on the bottom of a partial document dated on the verso Mar. 13, 1778. The partial document appears to be an oath of allegiance (as is noted in the docket) and is signed by fifteen others including Massachusetts militia general JOHN WHITCOMB (1713 - 1785) and NATHANIEL CUSHING (1753 - 1814). Partial loss at upper left, affecting text and one signature, other tears repaired on verso, overall good condition. Two pieces.
