Fabulous pair of vases, made in Nevers, where French faience pre-dated Quimper , Rouen and the other areas famous for their majolica. Date to approx 1880.

Measurements: 7 3/4" tall.

Each vase is made of 3 curved 'horn'-shaped pockets, the narrow, conical bases forming a tripod. The surface of all parts is beautifully handpainted with sprigs of flowers, bordered by bright blue and golden orange. Delicate and masterful painting.

Marks: each piece has handwritten marks: a T covered by a C, NEVERS and the number 4 or 14.

Condition: very good. No cracks or chips. One or two tiny spots where the glaze did not fully cover the clay - original to the pieces.
