Monumental pair of majolica ceramic vases, made in France, 19th century. Very possibly by Theodore Deck. Provenance: The Atlanta Museum.
Each measures 24 1/2 inches high.
Hexagonal panel sides on round stepped base, widen slightly towards shoulders. Fabulous elephant head handles. Glaze ranges from deep, cobalt blue through turquoise to very pale blue. These tones were commonly used by Theodore Deck, as were the elephant handles. The sides are decorated with raised grapes, vineleaves and tendrils towards the top and beautiful Oriental inspired chrysanthemums/peonies towards the bottom.
One vase has serious damage on the top (clearly shown in 'photos). The other vase is in very good condition.

Please check shipping as these are very big.
