<td width="100%">
This is a pair of old Sheffield Plate chestnut containers. Each is in the form of an urn with circular handles mounted in the mouth's of lions.

Each is also decorated with an armorial with the Hand of Ulster above which is the Head of a demi griffin, and in the shield proper there are two knightly helms with a wheat sheaf.

I have been advised that this armorial belongs to an important Anglo-Irish family by the name of Cholmondely (Marquesses of the United Kingdom).

There is some bleeding on the plate which is quite normal for a plate object made in the late 18th century.

No bends.
