Large image of prisoner of war Samuel Bates McIntyre, 111th New York Infantry, Company A. Bottom margin of frame is signed in ink “Sam’l B. McIntyre / Houston, Minnesota.” The 111th New York Infantry surrendered at Harper’s Ferry in September 1862, it was later paroled from Camp Douglas in Chicago. The 111th New York Infantry was also engaged at Gettysburg. Image originally mounted to frame from behind, but has since become detached. Image measures 6.5'' x 8.5''; frame measures 8.5'' x 11.5''. Photo shows foxing throughout. Very good.
