WITH HOLSTER & COLT LETTER. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 548311. Per Colt Letter, this pistol was 1 of 3,000 shipped Dec. 14, 1918 to the Marine Corps Storehouse in Philadelphia, PA . Per Charles Clawson's "COLT .45 SERVICE PISTOLS / MODELS OF 1911 AND 1911A1" these was a shipment of guns to the USMC within S# range 543000-556000. This pistol appears to have most correct era parts of S# range 450,000-629,500 based on "U.S. Pistols & Revolvers 1909-1945" by J.C. Harrison. Only replacement part is WW2 High Standard 5" barrel; these pistols often went through numerous rebuilds, reworks & field repairs as having been used in conflicts such as WW2 through Iraqi Freedom. MAGS: 1 unmarked 7 rd. with same overall condition & oxidation as pistol. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 1917 dated Warren Leather Goods black leather holster in good worn condition having tear near hangar. Inside flap stamped "55555". CONDITION: slide retains approx. 30% original brushed blue finish with balance having worn gray/brown patina showing scratches & scattered light marks. Frame has approx. 10% original brushed blue with substantial portion protected by grips, balance is gray/brown patina showing light pitting on front strap, areas of corrosion & light marks. Fair to good worn grips with flattened diamonds & gouges. Barrel has over 90% original blue finish with cycling wear & spots of oxidation. Bore is shiny with strong rifling. (25-2559/MD).
