14 1861 (Aug 26) SPANISH - FRENCH CAMPAING IN COCHINCHINA (1858-1862). Entire letter written from MACAU to BRUSSELS (Belgium) franked at prepaid Officer´s rate of 40 c. with pair of 1854 20 c. tied by dotted CECC lozenge with fine CORPS EXP. CHINE / BAU C datestamp alongside (Aug 28). Whilst originally marked with red PD as prepaid, the cover, being addressed to Belgium, was exempt from the concessionary Military Officers rate and the stamps were marked in manuscript "Nul" the "PD" was erased and cover taxed at "60" centimes due. MARSEILLE transit on reverse (Oct 15) and BRUSSELS arrival. Extremely rare and unusual entire: the writer of the letter had been on Campaign in Cochinchina for four years.
