PORTUGAL, 600- AND 400-reis countermarks (1642?) on cross-side of a Potosí, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, Philip II, assayer B (early 5th period), unique. Gomes-unl; LMB-unl; KM-unl. 25.88 grams. A very choice and fascinating coin with minimal corrosion and nearly full host-coin details, both countermarks very deeply impressed, neither with crown above (hence believed to be Portugal instead of Brazil). With photo-certificate ASS/TH/7248 from the salvor. Recovered from: Association, sunk in 1707 off the Isles of Scilly, south west of England
