(1891 - 1964) American composer and lyricist of the classic musicals Anything Goes, Kiss Me Kate, and Can-Can. His songs include ""Let's Do It"" and ""My Heart Belongs to Daddy"", among many others. Partly-printed D.S. ""Cole Porter"" 1p. 4to., [California], Sept. 1, 1939, a copy of a typed contract between Porter and Loew's Incorporated, granting permission for the use of his song ""Begin the Beguine"" in his photoplay ""Broadway Melody of 1940,"" in part: ""àThere will be continuous production of the music involving singers and dancers, with Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell featured.
