PORFIRIO SALINAS (1910-1973)
Untitled Bluebonnet Path, 1957
Oil on canvas
25 x 30 inches (63.5 x 76.2 cm)
Signed and dated lower left

A lazy trail winds through the bluebonnets in the Texas Hill Country. Bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, coreopsis, prickly poppies, and blooming prickly pear add color to the scene. The eye is drawn into the picture directed by the dirt path. The hazy moisture-laden atmosphere of a Texas spring obscures the details of the hills in the distance.

This fine bluebonnet painting was purchased from the artist by Harry Jersig, the CEO of Lone Star Brewing of San Antonio. It was possible Harry Jersig had a long time relationship with Salinas, because one of the artist's first reported jobs was painting beer signs on the side of delivery trucks (Prohibition ended in 1933).

Provenance:
Acquired from the artist by Harry Jersig, CEO, Lone Star Brewing, San Antonio, Texas
Acquired by descent from the artist by the present ownerCondition Report: Excellent condition.
