(1795 - 1849) Eleventh President of the United States who led the country during the Mexican-American War, and secured the territories of Oregon and Washington. Scarce signed leather-bound book, being the proceedings of the Third Session of the Twenety-Fifth U.S. Congress, [printed by Blair & Rives, Washington, 1839], boldly signed "James K. Polk" on the front pastedown, and again at the top of the Index at the start of the text. De-accessioned by the Tennessee State Library and bears the library's ink stamp on front flyleaf. Covers bear some wear and scuffs, light scattered foxing within, overall very good.
