Original lithograph from "Les Maitre de L'Affiches" series. Printed by Imprimerie Chaix, Paris, 1896. Condition A. Certificate of Authenticity is provided.
His delightful poster for the operetta "La Petite Poucette," translates to " Little Miss Hop-o'-My-Thumb." Using a large red umbrella, as the centrepiece, held aloft by a sweet singing little girl with red scarf and red socks, set against another half dozen singing little girls each with shawl and red bow, Monvel creates a delightful composition. The dancing typeface of the title "La Petite Poucette" seems to flow from the chorus of the girl's voices. Even the name of the music composer "Raoul Pugno" in it's almost avant garde style, becomes part of the composition.
