(PHOTO OF NEBRASKA CAVALRY SOLDIER)
A great turn-of-the-century silver print, 4 1/2" x 6 1/4" copy photograph of a tintype with period ink identification of verso, in full: " [Pvt.] L. [uther] H. North at 17 2nd Nebraska Cavalry, Dakota 4. 7, 1863". The 2nd Nebraska Cavalry was organized in 1862 to suppress an Indian uprising in western Minnesota and prevent Nebraska from likewise being attacked. A nine-month regiment, it fought with distinction at White Stone Hill. Minor soiling, else very good.
