PHELPS' 1846 UNITED STATES AT A GLANCE. "The United States at One View / 1776 / 1846". Poster just "chock full" of information from the 1840 census and other sources, including the 150 largest cities, river and railroad data, populations of the 29 states including the slave populations of each, and even populations of Native Americans (between the Rockies & Mississippi R. -- 293,101; E. of the Mississippi -- 31,587 and W. of Rockies -- 420,000)! 22 x 30", publ. by Humphrey Phelps, NY, 1845. Several margin tears with minor paper loss, one tear from top nearly 7" long, edge scuffing from rolling and some light toning. Apparently there was an attempt to repair this poster, since there appears to be adhesive on some of the tears, but it was not removed from its plastic sleeve for examination.
