1858, Illinois. Stock certificate for 10 shares. Black. Engraved vignette of Native Americans overlooking steam locomotive crossing the plains at top center. Signed as president by Norman B. JUDD (1815-1878). Railroad lawyer and executive; U.S. Congressman. After successfully managing Lincoln's presidential campaign, Judd was appointed Minister to Prussia and served 1861-1865. Minor ink bleed through from verso, fine. Red ink and hole punch cancelled with the latter lightly affecting Judd's signature.
