PEARL HARBOR OFFICERS' COFFEE POTS AND RELIC ASH TRAY
PEARL HARBOR OFFICERS' COFFEE POTS AND RELIC ASH TRAY
Lot of three items , includes: two Reed and Barton silver-plated coffee pots, each 8" wide, 4 1/4" tall with hinged lids, stamped with maker's name and "U.S.N." on bottom, typically seen in a Navy ranking officer's mess aboard ship or ashore. According to our museum consignor, these items were obtained from a Navy Pearl Harbor veteran who was on Sand Island and was one of the first to fire upon the incoming Japanese aircraft. The sailor obtained these from the officer's mess on Sand Island, probably when the island, then a Japanese internment camp, closed in March, 1943. Accompanied by a cast aluminum ashtray, 4 1/2" diameter, reading in relief: "PEARL HARBOR DEC. 7, 1941" Labels attached thereto indicate that the ashtray was cast from scrap recovered following the Japanese attack. Three pieces. Ex: The War Museum.
