Antique Russian Pavel Buhre pocket watch set in Russian silver and enamel guilloche presentation mounting. Watch has white enamel face with black Roman numerals and notches. Has black hour, minute and sub-second hands. Mounting has raised floral ribbon design throughout with chase work base. Has hand painted enameled scene depicting mother and child in countryside landscape scene. Holds 1893 assayer's mark with 84 silver purity mark and town mark. Measures 10 3/4" height (27.3cm). Watch face measures 1 3/4" diameter (4.4cm). The history of Buhre watch company began in 1815 in Saint Petersburg. It was established by Carl Buhre. Later his son Paul started to assist the father with watches and after some time he took the family's business in his hands. In 1874 Paul Buhre acquired a large watch factory in one of Swiss watch industry centers Le Locle. In 1899 Trade House "Pavel Bure " was honored a title "supplier of emperor court".
